I have always been a Dubai kid, born and bred here; this is home. I have done all my education in Dubai and I feel that being a homegrown kid, I am able to interact with people from all backgrounds, cultures and nationalities very well.

As a person, I like keeping busy and having different things to do at the same time. I currently hold a internship in a fast growing food product company and at times by job becomes demanding, but I like to do other things for myself on the side.

I am a part of a food blog with a very close friend of mine and I have my own photography page which started because of my passion for photography. I also work with an online magazine part time and cover events for them and sometimes even write advise and survival articles.

I think of myself as a person who likes to do everything and I have found that if I put effort into it, I can build interest in a lot of different fields. I studied accounting during high school because the concept interested me and I decided to take it up as my major during university. During the course of my studies, I realised that I have a passion for writing and joined the writing tutors team to help guide peers with their writing assignments. I also developed an interest in events and marketing and tried to take that up on the side with the university newspaper and during my first internship I made the change from accounting to marketing as my field of interest.

I would like people to think of me as a good team player because I am very easy going and understanding. I have worked in groups for group projects with students during my undergraduate studies and have worked well with my team members.

I am eager to learn and good with application projects because I feel that I can create something visible and make a visible difference. I enjoy the field of marketing for the same purposes, because when I look at something I designed or created, it makes me happy.

I also possess good multi-tasking abilities and in fact I look for multi-tasking opportunities where I am challenged in different fields at the same time.

I would like my classmates and teammates at Hult to know that I will be a supportive and hard working member of the student body who will use every opportunity available to make a difference, to participate and to learn something new.

Why this example works — strengths and ways to improve

This reads as a postgraduate or business-school statement addressed to Hult classmates. It has genuine material in your blog, magazine work, writing tutoring and switch from accounting to marketing. However, it mostly lists traits and activities rather than showing results or reflection, and it never explains what you want to study at Hult or why.

Subject motivation

during my first internship I made the change from accounting to marketing

This is the most important moment in the statement, but it is told in one clause. You do not explain what prompted the switch or what the internship showed you about marketing. You also never say which Hult programme you want or what you hope it adds.

Academic preparation

I studied accounting during high school because the concept interested me

Your accounting background could strengthen a marketing application, through budgeting or analytics for example, but you do not connect the two. Your undergraduate study appears only as group projects. You give no example of coursework, a project or a skill that prepares you for graduate study.

Evidence and reflection

when I look at something I designed or created, it makes me happy

This is honest, but it stays at the level of feeling. Name one thing you designed, who it was for and what difference it made. Then explain what that taught you about marketing. Without that example, claims like making a visible difference cannot be tested.

Relevant experience

cover events for them and sometimes even write advise and survival articles

Your magazine writing, food blog, photography page and internship are all relevant to marketing. Ordinary projects like these are good evidence. Choose one or two and describe your role, the audience, the challenges and any outcomes, instead of naming them all briefly.

Credibility and voice

I would like people to think of me as a good team player

Your voice is friendly and sincere, especially when you write about Dubai. However, the statement relies on self-assessments such as team player, multi-tasking and eager to learn, with little proof. Errors like 'by job' and 'advise articles' weaken your credibility, especially since you tutored others in writing.

Structure and format

I also possess good multi-tasking abilities and in fact I look

The paragraphs move from trait to trait without a clear path. Your busy schedule appears twice, and your career story is buried in the middle. A clearer order would be background, then the shift into marketing, then evidence, then why Hult. That order would make your conclusion feel earned.

What you’ve done well

  • You give a clear account of moving from accounting to marketing, which can become a strong narrative.
  • You draw on real, accessible evidence: an internship, magazine writing, a food blog, photography and peer writing tutoring.
  • Your multicultural Dubai upbringing ties directly to the kind of international community you hope to join at Hult.

How this draft could improve

  • Replace the trait paragraphs (team player, multi-tasking) with one detailed example from your blog, magazine or internship that shows those qualities in action.
  • Explain why you want this Hult programme and how your accounting and marketing experience prepares you for it.
  • Proofread carefully, for example 'by job', 'advise articles' and 'a internship', and cut the repeated points about keeping busy.
